Lisa Dropkin and Pam Loeb of Edge Research have just completed approximately 60 interviews with government decisionmakers—appointed and elected—as well as some news media editors and reporters in ten states.
The interviews tested the perceptions of foundation roles, messages and stories with these decisionmakers. And explored questions such as: which ways of framing the roles and value of foundations resonate most?; how can foundations be a more valued partner?; and what are the drivers of decisionmaker perceptions of philanthropy?.

A report on the full interview findings is due for release summer of 2010 and will provide a useful roadmap for foundation outreach and engagement.
